I chose Unity because of its unique training. As one of a handful of residencies in the nation that is based primarily in community health centers and provides training in correctional medicine, it offers a unique context to thrive as a family physician and social advocate. This program fosters a supportive environment for residents who are mindful of the social determinants of health in vulnerable communities. I feel at home and well connected with Unity’s mission. Not surprisingly, I have also found myself equally at home in the vibrant culture and diversity of  Washington DC.

I chose Family Medicine because it’s the most comprehensive field of medicine that will allow me to help address the lack of access to health care in our country, by giving me the skills to take care of any patient. Unity Health Care in DC was my first choice, because it’s gives me both the underserved patient population that I would like to continue to work for, as well having a sense of family and community within the program itself. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering, traveling, art museums, festivals, finding new places to brunch, and spending time with family and friends.

I chose family medicine at Unity Healthcare for the unique opportunity to train in a community health center and work with a diverse and underserved population. I believe strongly in primary care/preventive medicine, with specific interests in homelessness, mental health, international medicine, and women's health, and am happy that family medicine and Unity address all of that and more. Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, reading, traveling, baking, and exploring this great city.

I chose Unity Healthcare because their mission and goals matched my values. I witnessed firsthand Unity’s commitment to the underserved as I did clinical rotations with them in medical school. The Wright Center at Unity Healthcare is a great place to work at reducing healthcare disparities in America. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, catching a movie or going to a basketball game.

I chose Family Medicine so I could build long term relationships with my patients, their families, and their communities- getting to know my patients as completely as I can to deliver the most individualized care and address preventive health over time. The Wright Center at Unity Healthcare is the right place for me because we meet patients where they're at, to address both personal health and community health. In my free time, I like to find new things to try with friends, hike, cuddle my kitties, play uke, and see all the museums and artistic events the city has to offer.
