Unity’s FNP Residency is a 12-month program that consists of precepted, mentored, QI, and didactic sessions that will expand upon the foundation established in the FNP academic education.

Extensive didact and experiential learning opportunities including, but not limited to, point-of-care ultrasound training, Spanish language learning course, EKG training course, diabetes learning-intensive, AANP Annual Conference attendance.

This is a full-time salaried position with training focused on primarycare for high-risk populations in an urban setting. There is a 2-year contractual employment obligation after residency at which time your salary will increase commensurate with experience including quarterly bonuses in accordance with Unity’s policies.

Application Process

What are the program requirements?

  • Graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program within the last 18 months of start date
  • Unrestricted RN license
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours/week) with annual salary of $75,000*
  • Ability to provide credentialing documentation at least 8 weeks prior to start date**:
  1. National Board Certification (AANP or ANCC)
  2. DC APRN license
  3. DEA
  4. CDS

**Given the credentialing process, it is highly recommended that applicants apply and set a date for the exam no later than 3 months before the start date.

What to include in your application

  • Three letters of recommendation: one personal reference, one clinical or supervisor reference, and one education reference
  • Copy of transcripts
  • Detailed clinical hours, location, and description
  • Completed application

What does the residency schedule look like?

The residency schedule is as follows: 50% continuity patient care with dedicated preceptors, 20% specialty care rotations, 10% mentored sessions, and 20% didactic, QI, and self-directed learning.
