Unity Celebrates Achievements, Forecasts Future Development at All-Staff Summit
On Tuesday, June 4, Unity Health Care staff gathered at Trinity Washington University for the Unity Summit, where President and CEO, Vincent Keane and other leadership reflected on Unity’s history, celebrated accomplishments, and discussed future organizational plans.
Keane celebrated Unity’s recent growth, highlighting the organization’s renewed commitment to recruiting and retaining high-functioning staff to support continued development. As part of this commitment, Keane formally introduced Unity’s new Employee Experience and Engagement team, led by Jeronica Goodwin, that will lead this charge by focusing on workforce well being and ensuring Unity develops great leaders while maintaining stability and continuity of institutional memory throughout future organizational transitions and growth. Continuing with announcements of structural changes, Keane shared his plan to step down from his current position as President and CEO. This transition will be ongoing through 2020.
Sheilahn Davis-Wyatt, MHA, FACHE, Unity’s Chief Operating Officer, presented an updated organizational chart, incorporating several newly filled roles, including Director of Compliance, Adriana Brigatti, JD, MPH, LLM, CIP, CHRC, and Vice President for Business Development, Innovation, and Population Health, Tracy Harrison. Davis-Wyatt also rolled out new positions – Vice President of Nursing and Health Center Director of Operations – which have not yet been filled.
Between speakers, the Summit also featured engaging activities, like an all-staff stretch and dance session led by Dr. Lawrenceand raffle drawings for gift certificates, fundraiser tickets, and a coveted free paid vacation day.
Looking towards the future, Unity acknowledges potential challenges, such as competition for staff and patients and health care’s broader shift to a value-based care model, but we are encouraged by new partnerships and exciting opportunities to improve clinical quality and expand our patient population. Unity enthusiastically looks forward to continuing to innovate and grow as we deliver compassionate and comprehensive health services to the District’s residents.
