After a national search, Unity Health Care welcomes Dr. Stephanie Cox-Baston as its new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Cox-Batson joins Unity Health Care from Chicago’s Near North Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center, where she also served as Chief Medical Officer. “I am excited and humbled to have been chosen as Unity Health's next Chief Medical Officer.

To continue to serve our patients and the community, Unity’s Minnesota Avenue Health Center will move a few doors down from its current location to 3946 Minnesota Ave, NE, Washington, DC. With the support of our patients, the new health center will open for services on December 24, 2020. 

When Health Care for the Homeless Project (HCHP) was founded in 1985, co-founder Dr. Janelle Goetcheus, said, "We must go where the homeless are – in the shelters, on the streets, and under bridges." Since our start in a small room of a local shelter as Health Care for the Homeless Project, we have been committed to delivering compassionate care to the District’s most vulnerable.

Willie Payden first started going for care at Unity when he was a teenager. Now 63, he values all it has done for him and believes it’s greatly changed his life for the better.

As we continue to recognize our 35th anniversary, this National Health Center Week carries especially significant meaning.
