MAYOR ANTHONY WILLIAMS VISITS
UNITY HEALTH CARE’S GOOD HOPE HEALTH CENTER
On Thursday, October 31, 2002 D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams visited Unity Health’s care newly-opened Good Hope Health Center, located at 1638 Good Hope Road, SE. Mayor Williams, was at the Bread for the City’s Southeast center, located in the same building as the Health Center, to receive the "Sign ‘Em Up" award presented by The District of Columbia Primary Care Association in recognition of the city's complete turnaround in finding and enrolling eligible low income people in Medicaid and food stamps. Other recipients of the award were Kate Jesberg, Director of Income Maintenance Administration (IMA), Department of Human Services and Herb Weldon, Director, Medical Assistance Administration, Department of Health. James A. Buford, acting director, Department of Health was also present at this event.
In accepting his award, Mayor Williams recognized the contribution that Unity Health Care has made to the improved health services in the city. He thanked Unity for its participation in the DC Healthcare Alliance, the dedication of its staff and their interest in the welfare of all residents of the District of Columbia. Mayor Williams had a chance to meet most of the staff at the Good Hope Health Center during his tour. After the tour he chatted briefly with CEO, Vince Keane, and Health Center Manager, Marjorie Decker, and once again asked them to convey his personal appreciation to all the staff for their dedication and cooperation in providing health services to everyone in the city that needed it. |
