NEW INCLEMENT WEATHER/EMERGENCY CLOSURE POLICY
Unity reserves the right to remain open to provide health care services at select locations during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies. The decision to open or to close Unity’s sites will now be made by Unity’s Executive Management Team who will consider both employee and patient safety. Employees who work at any of Unity’s 24-hour sites must report to the facility as scheduled. These facilities will not close for inclement weather or other emergencies.

As of January 1, 2015, Unity Health Care DOES NOT adhere to the Federal Government guidelines for inclement weather/emergency closures, late openings, liberal and/or unscheduled leave. In all of these cases, Unity Health Care is open on time unless staff is otherwise notified. In addition, these guidelines exclude Unity Health Care- DOC staff. All DOC staff must report to work on time or should contact their supervisor(s) to receive further instructions.
NOTIFICATION OF EMERGENCY CLOSURE
Notification to staff that Unity is closed due to inclement weather or other emergencies will be provided via several methods to include: Unity’s EZ Texting Alert, radio (WTOP), television (NBC 4, WUSA Channel 9, Fox 5, WJLA 7 and ABC Newschannel 8), Unity’s website (www.unityhealthcare.org), Unity’s designated emergency closure hotline (202-715-7929) and your Unity email.
