| Full-Time Community Health Corps Members
Full-time HealthCorps members accepted into the program receive a living allowance of $10,600 (2004-2005) for a minimum 1,700-hour term of service (10-12 months) plus health insurance benefits and, if eligible, childcare benefits. After successfully completing a term of service, each member receives an education award worth $4,725 to be used toward previously incurred student loans or future education costs. Payments are made directly to educational institutions. Full time members will also be part of the Unity Health Care Inc. Community HealthCorps team. They will participate in trainings; service projects and team building activities. Members will also be able to interact at the national level with other Community HealthCorps members. Members will serve in Community Health Centers around the District of Columbia. Their duties will be composed of the following: patient education, case management, health outreach, and assisting patients with completing insurance paperwork. In addition members will be part of a team that will engage in service projects and weekly trainings.
